This Month in the Vineyard
The harvest has mostly finished and winemakers have been pressing the grapes and starting the process that turns our local grapes into world class wines.
As the days have shortened and the weather cooled, the leaves on grapevines have started turning their beautiful autumnal hues. This month, most of the vines will lose their leaves in their annual march towards dormancy. The vineyards will be seeded with cover crops to nourish the soil and control erosion
November brings some rain and markedly cooler days. Both day and night temperatures are cooler with average lows of 43 degrees and average daytime highs of 66 degrees. November is often the first month that Healdsburg really sees some rain with an average of 6 inches of rain over the course of the month.
November is a great month to see the beautiful fall vineyards and visit some of Healdsburg’s many wineries.
